Okada – The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. -Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, has urged corps members to play roles that would unite the country.
Kazaure made the call when he visited the Batch B, Stream 2 corps members at their orientation camp on Tuesday in Okada, Edo.
He told the corps members that they have a greater role to play in ensuring the unity of the country.
Kazaure, who was represented by the Director of Legal Department of the NYSC, Mr Ahmed Tijani, said corps members were now suitably positioned to play a critical role as the unity of the nation was being threatened.
The director general also appealed to them to maintain a high level of security alertness at all time, especially in the face of the security challenges across the country.
He urged them to respect the culture and tradition of their host communities, if they want to earn their respect.
“Leave a land mark in your host community; that is the only way to show that you passed through that community.
“I want to let you know that a lot lies on your shoulders to ensure that the country remains a united one.
“As corps members, you must be a bridge builder, especially in your host community. You must respect their culture and tradition to earn their respect,” he said.
Kazaure also urged the corps members to adhere to regulations while appealing to them not to travel out of the camp without approval.
