Expectations that the involvement of foreign super powers in the search for the over 200 abducted Chibok girls will lead to their speedy rescue may be slowly fading away as Pentagon spokesperson, Rear Admiral John Kirby at the weekend said that there are no new leads.
According to him nothing has changed in the rescue mission.
“We don’t have any better idea today than we did before about where these girls are, but there’s been no let up of the effort itself,” Kirby said.
Reportedly, the US has reduced its surveillance flights in Nigeria. Kirby said some of the resources America deployed in Nigeria had been diverted from other missions in Africa. They could now be used elsewhere on the continent.
A source said that despite the decrease by the US of its surveillance flights, there will be more flights by other countries so the overall effort remained unchanged. (The Scoop)
