Karu (Nasarawa State)- Some clerics in Nasarawa say St. Valentine’s Day symbolises a day to show generosity love and affection.
Imam Salehu Ussaini of the Central Mosque, Masaka in Karu Local Government of Nasarawa Stater, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the day should be celebrated with the love of God in mind.
He also warned the ladies to beware of men who might try to take advantage of them on Valentine’s Day.
“A lover’s day should be a day that people come together and tell each other the truth and not to deceive and exploits each other,’’ he said.

He then called on Nigerians to live in unity and embrace peace to enhance national development.
The cleric urged Christians and Muslims to show love to one another during the celebration and beyond.
In his view, Rev. Lawrence Ayubugu, the Parish Priest of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, New Nyanya in Karu, told NAN that the day should be a special day that should not be celebrated for the sake of it.
He urged Nigerians to demonstrate forgiveness, love for one another and continue to pray for peace to reign in the country.
He said that couples should take part in the celebration to relax and renew love and affection.
Sharing similar sentiments, Rev. Sister Pauline Chuckwudolue of St John’s Parish Aygaragu, Karu, urged Nigerians to extend the message of love at Valentine to the less-privileged in the society.
She said that people should extend love to children at the orphanage homes, beggars on the streets and the internally displaced people during and after Valentine.(NAN)
