Lagos – Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State on Tuesday directed all security agencies to take appropriate actions against vandals and cultists in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ambode gave the order during a security tour of Isawo in Ikorodu area of the state.
He said that the state government would not fold its arms and allow miscreants to disturb the peace enjoyed in the state.
“I personally came here to give a strong warning to vandals. Also, just last week, some operatives of the task-force had their fingers chopped off in Oshodi by hoodlums.
“I direct all security agencies to go ahead and use appropriate force in mitigating against vandalism and cultism.
“This is in the overall interest of everyone,” he said.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
He commended the Joint Security Taskforce (Operation MESA), which monitors the area for the diligence of its men and officers in curtailing the activities of the vandals.
Ambode said that they had made a lot of progress since the commencement of Operation MESA in the area.
He reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting security agencies in eradicating vandalism and other vices.
Ambode also said that plan was underway to construct the road from Isawo to Arepo in Ogun, through to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, to ease traffic on Ikorodu Expressway.
He said that this would help in improving security, as well as improve economic activities and the standard of living of residents.
The Commander of the Task-force, Lt. Col. Julius Ogbobe, commended the governor for the visit, saying that they had been recovering illegal products from vandals and arresting them. (NAN)
