VC urges FG to rehabilitate railway system

SANGO-OTA (OGUN) – Prof. Samson Ayanlaja, Vice-Chancellor, Crawford University, Igbesa, Ogun, has urged the Federal Government to undertake a complete rehabilitation of the nation’s railway system.

Ayanlaja told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview on Monday in Ota that such exercise [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]would boost the nation’s transportation system and the economy.
He also expressed the need to fast-track infrastructure development including provision of good roads [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″][pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]and stable power supply to ensure economic growth.
“The rehabilitation of the nation’s railway system will reduce crashes on Nigerian roads because some of the accidents on our roads are caused by trucks and trailers plying the roads.
“The cost of roads’ maintenance by the Federal Government will also be reduced because the trailers and trucks cause damages to the roads,’’ Ayanlaja said.
He said that people would prefer to transport their fertiliser and others goods through a improved railway system which he said was the fastest and cheapest.
He said an improved railway system would facilitate free flow of goods and services in the country.(NAN)
