Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice-President of Nigeria, has arrived in Kano State via Aminu Kano International Airport for the wedding of Yusuf, President Muhammadu Buhari’s only son.
Yusuf is getting married to Zahra, daughter of Alhaji Nasir Bayero, the Emir of Bichi.
Osinbajo was received by the Governor of the State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up all around Kano for the wedding.
Both men alongside other top government officials are awaiting the president, who is expected to depart Yola, Adamawa state capital, any moment from the time of filing this report.
Buhari left Abuja for Yola to pay a condolence visit to the family of the late Permanent Secretary, Ahmed Joda, who was Chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee in 2015.
The President is expected to visit the palace of Lamido of Adamawa, Mohammadu Aliu Barkin do.
Already at the airport to welcome the President is the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintri, his Chief of Staff, Prof Maxwell Gidado, SAN, and members of the State Executive Council.
Also on the ground to welcome Buhari are heads of security agencies in the state.
He will, from there, move to the Emir of Bichi’s palace to bless the wedding ceremony between his son and Zahra.
Buhari, on Thursday, dispatched a high-level delegation to Kano State, ahead of the wedding fathia.
Members of the delegation include the Minister of Defence, Bashir Salihi Magashi; Minister of Agriculture, Sabo Nanono, Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika and Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Hussein Adamu alongside Shehu himself who are all led by the Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari.
SaharaReporters had earlier reported that Yusuf and Zahra’s wedding is scheduled to hold on Friday, August 20.
Yusuf is set to get married to his bride to embark on a journey that started with their meeting while studying in the United Kingdom.
The event is also preceding the coronation of the bride’s father, Nasir Ado Bayero as the Emir of Bichi.
Buhari will not attend the event on Saturday, but his advance team will stay back for the event.
The Emir of Bichi, father of the bride-to-be earlier gave his approval for the organisation and inauguration of a 145-man committee to ensure that the wedding ceremony does not meet any obstacle or complication along the way.
