LAGOS – Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), once again showed that his popularity among the Nigerian populace, is not a fluke after all, given the deafening ovation that erupted at the 62nd Annual General Conference of the Nigeria Bar Association, on Monday at the Eko Atlantic City, in Lagos, where he appeared to have outshone other candidates.
Obi, who was named at the event, which marked the 2022 edition of the conference alongside other leading candidates for the 2023 elections invited at the occasion, which took place on Monday, appeared to be the choice of the audience, given the reaction the mention of his name, as the politicians were being invited to the podium, attracted.
Outside the former Governor of Anambra State, other candidates, former Vice President and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (Atiku Abubakar), attended the event in person, while the two other leading candidates, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), were absent, though the former Lagos State Governor, was represented by his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
The Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu and that of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, were also in attendance at the event, billed to last till August 26, with the theme Bold Transitions. (Whirlwindnews)
