Okene (Kogi)- Gov. Idris Wada of Kogi on Monday urged the people of the state to vote massively for President Goodluck Jonathan and other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
Wada made the appeal in Okene during a PDP election campaign rally.
He said that the state had benefited tremendously from the Jonathan administration, urging the people to reciprocate by re-electing the president on Feb. 14.
Wada listed the ongoing dualisation of Lokoja-Abuja Highway, dredging of the Lower River Niger and the Geregu Power Plant construction as some of the projects undertaken in the state by the Jonathan administration.
He said that state would benefit more if the president would be re-elected.

In her remarks, the Wife of the governor, Hajia Halima Wada, called on women to vote for Jonathan who, he said, had been gender sensitive.
The state PDP Chairman, Mr Hassan Salawu, said that the party was poised to win the elections, but appealed to PDP members and supporters not to be complacent until victory would be secured.
Salawu said that defection of some members of opposition led by Alahaji Ismaila Mairuwa to the PDP during the campaign rally indicated that the party was waxing stronger.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that highlight of the rally was the presentation of the party’s candidates to the large number of people at the rally. (NAN)
