ABUJA – Coach Stanley Eguma on Saturday in Abuja blamed Dolphin Football Club’s 0-2 loss to Kano [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”8″]
Pillars FC on their failure to start preparations early.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Port Harcourt-based side lost in the opening match of the 2014/2015 Glo Premier League Super 4 Invitational Tournament.
Speaking later at the post-match arena at the Media Centre of the National Stadium, that, Eguma said they failed because they went to camp just four days before the tournament.
“My team was not in camp for this competition early enough and as should be expected, and we arrived in Abuja late last (Friday) night.
“We were in camp four days to this competition and my boys suffered fatigue. So, I do know that this [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
will affect our performance,’’ he said.
The Dolphins FC Technical Adviser however said he was sure they would improve gradually as the competition progresses.
“We will use the next game to improve on our performance and fitness,’’ he said.
NAN reports that Dolphins are billed to face Dream Team VI, the national under-23 team, on Monday in their second game of the five-matchday competition.
Speaking also at the occasion, Okey Emordi, the Technical Adviser of Kano Pillars, said his team would strive to do maintain their good start.
“I can only assure that we will continue to do well here, so as to maintain our top ratings in the country. But this is all with the fact that we know what is ahead of us.
“We have the new season ahead of us, as well as the CAF Champions League, and we will continue to perfect our game to be ready for the challenge and win honours,’’ he said.
The Kano Pillars will take on the Flying Eagles on Monday at 3 p.m. in their second game at the tournament.(NAN)
