Abuja- The Acting Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Alhassan Yakmut, on Sunday in Abuja said the commission would give fair energy to all sports in the country.
Yakmut said this at the closing ceremony of the Phase One of the 11th Zenith Bank National Female Basketball League held from April 25 to May 3.
He said the NSC would also give special attention to the country’s strong areas
“With my knowledge and experience in sports management and with the help of my colleagues, we are going to give fair energy to all sports.
“We will also give a special attention to areas that we are very strong in, so that we can have a better ranking in football in the world,’’ the NSC acting Director-General said.
Yakmut said he was impressed with the organisation of the Zenith Bank Female Basketball League.
“I am excited that I physically monitored this tournament for four days, and I am highly impressed with the organisation.
“I am also happy with Zenith Bank for sustaining their sponsorship of this female basketball league,’’ he said.
Yakmut however added that he was also happy with the new players selected from the competition for the national basketball team.
“The quality of players selected from here to form the new national female basketball team is what is exciting the most.
“I am sure they will help the country to get the gold medal at the All-Africa Games (AAG) in Congo in September,” he said.(NAN)
