The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has revealed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) aims to retain power beyond 2027 by causing division among opposition parties and weakening their structure.
NNPP National Chairman Ajuji Ahmed made this declaration at the flag-off campaign for the party’s Ondo state governorship candidate, Olugbenga Edema, in Akure on Thursday.
“The APC is doing everything it can in order to win the 2027 general election. Certainly, there is evidence everywhere that they are interfering in other party.
“But it is left to the other political party to maintain their integrity and ensure they remain one and viable opposition to the APC before and after the 2027 election,” Ahmed stated.
The NNPP chairman, however, said that his party remains committed to uniting with other opposition parties to challenge the ruling party in 2027.
“So, we have our doors open in such a way that if there is going to be a coalition of all the political parties to go into the election, we are ready for that,” the NNPP chairman said.
On his part, Olugbenga Edema, NNPP’s governorship candidate, vowed to address the economic crisis and hardship caused by the APC. He pledged to implement policies benefiting the people of Ondo state.
Edema warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against electoral fraud. He claimed results were manipulated during the recent gubernatorial election in Edo state. He, however, said that will not allowed to happen in Ondo State.
