ABUJA – Coach Lateef Erinfolami of First Deep Water club, the defending champions of Zenith Bank Basketball Female League, has said that they would strive to retain the title they won in 2012/2013 season.
Erinfolami told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in a telephone interview that the club would not underestimate any of their opponents. First Deep Water of Lagos placed top of Group A with 14 points in the second phase of the league concluded last week in Ilorin.
“I don’t want to underestimate any of the teams because you can have a bad day.
“But some of the teams have improved tremendously throughout the whole of the year, from the beginning of the first phase to the second phase.
“Like First Bank, they have improved, they have recruited foreign players and the players of all those teams have improved individually, they have stepped up.
“So, we won’t go back and relax (because) any team can come up and spring surprise, but I really believe that if we can pay attention to small details, we will actually retain our cup.
Erinfolami added that the club would need to put in extra efforts because the players were not at their best during the just concluded second phase. (NAN)
