The #BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) group has disassociated itself from a planned protest to be held on October 1 to mark Day 170 of the abduction of the Chibok girls.
A report in the media had stated that the #BringBackOurGirls group had revealed that it had concluded arrangements to hold a massive protest on October 1 and that it had recruited a South South governor, a prominent politician from Adamawa State, some South West members of the House of Representatives as well as others from the North West and North East to stage the mega protest on Wednesday, October 1.
Speaking during its usual daily sit-out, the group disclosed that it was organising a symposium to mark the 170th day of the schoolgirls’ abduction, adding that there was no plan of a protest as stated in the media report.
Meanwhile the group has stated that for the abandoned Chibok girl, Sussana Ishaya, to recover fast and regain herself, she needed to have farmiliar faces around her.
It stated that getting people she knew around her would help her come out of the psychological trauma she was going through and facilitate her recovery. “I have not gone to where they have taken her because we don’t want journalists to disturb her. But I talked to one of my brothers – a former army officer, and he had been communicating and will go and meet her personally.
“I feel contented since they took her out of Yola. I feel comfortable for her to be in Abuja than in Yola where politicians will not be able to reach her. I know the army authorities will not treat her badly. Let’s wait until she feels better. I heard she is getting better,” he said. (Leadership)[eap_ad_3]
