For many people, a mobile device is not just for making and receiving calls. It contains valuable applications and personal information that can bring about disastrous outcomes if it falls into the wrong hands.
Hence, with the loss of a mobile device comes the fear of data breach, impersonation and fraud. However, Access Bank has taken proactive and innovative steps to protect its customers against fraud – one less thing to worry about if a mobile device is lost or stolen.
To secure the financial well-being of its customers, Access Bank set up several measures over the years, one of which is an advancement in USSD security that can help customers deactivate their USSD profile swiftly by dialling 901911# from any mobile phone. When this USSD code is dialled, customers can input the registered phone number on the account to be blacklisted, which immediately deactivates the USSD profile.
Customers can also block their accounts using 901911#. The customer simply opts out of USSD Banking and proceeds to place a restriction on the account. This automatically blocks the account and prevents fraudsters from accessing money in the account.
This service makes it convenient, easy, and fast to prevent fraudulent activities on customers’ bank accounts and keep their money safe. Access Bank has remained committed to the safety of its customers through unrelenting protection against fraud. Customers are kept ahead of fraud schemes through necessary informative and educative materials available alongside frequent reminders not to disclose personal bank information to anyone. As the bank reiterates, the 16-digit card number, password, CVV, PIN, BVN and OTP should be kept confidential at every point in time.
Customers should also be wary of any phone call, text message, chat, or email claiming to be from Access Bank requesting for their personal banking information. Please note that Access Bank will never ask for any sensitive information and customers should ignore such requests.
