LAGOS – Adoki Obererilene, Technical Director, Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation (NWBF), on Tuesday said the federation had put on hold its planned training tour for coaches.
Obererilene told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone that the measure was due to logistics problems.
The federation had in March penciled down two of its coaches for a two-month training tour in Spain to equip them with modern knowledge of the game.
“The federation has yet to secure a training base suitable for the proposed training in Spain.
“We are streamlining our programmes to ensure we get the desired output that will bear positively on our athletes,” he said.
According to him, the federation has some strategic events coming up later in the year that call for the coaches to be abreast of current coaching techniques.
Obereilene said the coaches would embark on the training tour as soon as the federation secured a good training base in Spain.
“I want the affected coaches to exercise patience; the federation is still working on securing a conducive training base in Spain.
“As soon as that is done, they will embark on the training tour,’’ he said. (NAN)
