Ondo State Governor and Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has explained the absence of his Ekiti counterpart, Kayode Fayemi, during the governors’ visit to the National Leader of All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.
Akeredolu on Wednesday explained that Fayemi had to catch a flight to Port-Harcourt for a Nigerian Bar Association event, hence his absence from the visit.
This was made known by the Chief Press Secretary to Akeredolu, Richard OOlatunde, in a statement titled ‘Why Fayemi Was Absent During Our Visit To Asiwaju Tinubu’s Residence – Akeredolu’.
“Governor Fayemi was with us at the Southwest Governors’ Forum meeting held earlier at the Lagos House in Marina. He had to leave to catch a late flight to Portharcourt where he was billed to attend the NBA Conference dinner.
“He sent his apology to Asiwaju as well as his good wishes. The rest of us who visited Asiwaju’s residence tendered the same and extended Fayemi’s good wishes,” the statement quoted the Governor as saying.
Akeredolu had on Tuesday led South-West Governors to visit Tinubu at his Bourdilon-Ikoyi residence in Lagos state, after a meeting at the Lagos House, Marina.
Though Fayemi attended the meeting, Akeredolu stated that the Ekiti State Governor could to be present at the visit due to his earlier scheduled appointment.
