AWKA – Mr Tony Nnacheta, Anambra State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, has revealed why the FIFA GOAL project in the state had not taken off.
Anambra was a beneficiary of one the three FIFA project brought to Nigeria, the other two were located in Delta and Bauchi states.
Nnacheta raised some of the issues while fielding questions with sports writers in Awka on Thursday.
“The C of O is in my possession, we have more than the C of O as the issues on that project, we have dealt with one out of the two issues and we believe that in a day or two, His Excellency will address the other issue.
“But we are desirous of the Goal project; we know the importance and Anambra deserves it and the governor is very much in the picture of what we have to do in the next few days. According to him, the governor had yet to address one of two issues standing in the way of the project. He, however, did not mention the problems.
Meanwhile, he said the ministry had secured the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of the project site and expressed confidence that the foundation laying ceremony for the GOAL project would be laid soon.
Nnacheta said that the state government appreciated the project and would do all that was possible to ensure its success.
The Goal Programme supports projects tailored to the needs of member associations in administration, training, youth football, infrastructure and other development projects. (NAN)
