ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – Nollywood actress Charity Eke popularly known as Chacha Eke Faani, has opened up about a dark period in her life when she harboured intense resentment towards her mother and even wished her death.
Taking to her Instagram page on Wednesday night, Chacha revealed that she had believed that her mother posed a threat to her life based on what she had been told by several religious leaders.
In her heartfelt post, Chacha expressed gratitude for overcoming those negative emotions that once consumed her. Recalling her younger years, she confessed that she had once deeply loved her mother and considered her to be her closest companion.
However, as she grew older, a change occurred, and she developed a strong dislike and even hatred towards her. Chacha admitted that during that time, she experienced nightmares and hallucinations that supported her negative feelings.
To her dismay, various religious figures, after witnessing her erratic behaviour during manic episodes, affirmed her suspicions by claiming that her mother was indeed a threat to her life. These assertions fueled her animosity, and she found herself wishing for her mother to die, as well as uttering hurtful words about her. Looking back now, Chacha realises that these thoughts and beliefs were symptoms of a disorder, a chemical imbalance in the brain that transformed her affection for her mother into deep aversion.
Chacha Eke Faani further highlighted the emotional devastation that can arise from underlying mental conditions, causing individuals to become estranged from their loved ones.
To rationalise their distorted claims, they concoct negative narratives that reinforce their misguided beliefs.
Fortunately, Chacha emphasised the availability of medication that can help alleviate these unexplainable and unsettling emotions.
On the occasion of her mother’s birthday, Chacha expressed her gratitude for recognising that her previous thoughts were the result of her own mental struggles, and not a genuine threat from her mother. She seized the opportunity to convey her profound love for her mother, acknowledging her as a truly blessed woman who has been blessed with nine grandchildren and counting.
