The Department of State Services (DSS) has stated that one of the lawyers of the suspended governor1 of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, serves as a counsel of the outlawed indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
In a tweet shared on its handle on Tuesday, July 18, the secret police accused Maxwell Okpara, Emefiele’s counsel of working for the outlawed group. Okpara and some lawyers had called for action against DSS Director-General, Yusuf Bichi, over the detention of Emefiele.
However, the DSS described Okpara as a “Biafran Republic agitator”, saying the lawyer needs to be “properly educated’ I on points of law” as per Emefiele’s arrest.
