The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, the lawmaker representing Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency of Imo State.
The expulsion, effective immediately, was due to alleged gross indiscipline, insubordination, and anti-party activities.
This decision was communicated in a letter dated December 5, 2024, by the Ideato Local Government chapter of the PDP. The letter, signed by LGA Chairman Hon. ThankGod Okeke and Secretary Onyebuchi Umeh, was addressed to the State Chairman.
The action followed a report from the party’s disciplinary committee on November 27, 2024. The committee investigated allegations of misconduct against Ugochinyere in accordance with Section 57 of the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended).
Ugochinyere had been suspended on October 14, 2024, by his Umuopia/Umukegwu ward for failing to appear before the ward executive on October 5, 2024, to answer disciplinary charges. He also ignored follow-up reminders and invitations sent on October 7, 2024.
The letter stated:
“Upon receipt of the report, the LGA Executive Committee of Ideato North met on December 5, 2024, and unanimously adopted the report of the disciplinary committee. In light of this, Hon. Imo Ugochinyere Ikeagwonu is hereby expelled from the party (PDP) with immediate effect and ceases to be a member of the Peoples Democratic Party in Umuopia/Umukegwu ward of Ideato North LGA.”
Ugochinyere was found guilty of multiple violations, including:
- Failing to attend meetings or participate in party activities, breaching Section 58
