OWERRI – Uche Nwosu, son-in-law of former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha was arrested for refusing to honour police invitations, a source in the Imo State Police Command has revealed.
The source that asked for anonymity said Uche Nwosu, 2019 Action Alliance governorship candidate in Imo State, was trailed to St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Nkwerre, Imo State on Sunday and arrested having failed to honour several invitations.
“Yes, our office has invited this guy severally to answer some questions but he has repeatedly dishonored the invitations. He is either in Abuja today or other part of the country other than Imo State tomorrow and that made our efforts to arrest him difficult. We had to trail him to his village where we just got hold of him”, the anonymous police source revealed.
The spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force, Imo State Command, CSP Michael Abattam, in a statement issued on Sunday afternoon, said that contrary to the #FAKENEWS propagated by the enemies of the state that Uche Nwosu was abducted by unknown persons, “This is to inform the general public that chief Uche Nwosu was not kidnapped but was arrested by the police and Imo state police command is aware of the arrest and presently he is in police custody.”
