The last might not have been heard about the raid of the residence of the General Manager of the Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) Iheayin Anyiabaekwume in Owerri by the police.
Addressing journalists on Monday, the state commissioner of police, Mohammed Katsina represented by the Public Relation Officer of the command , ASP Abanga Elvis explained that the police had raided the home of the OCDA boss based on an intelligence report that he runs a terror gang while using the instrument of the state government to disguise.
He said Anyiabaekwume’s Aladinma residence was swooped on following the allegation that he was armed with offensive weapons and other dangerous items.
Elvis stressed that some of the allegations were confirmed when the police paid Anyiabaekwume an unscheduled visit at his residence and purportedly found him smoking weeds suspected to be Indian hemp with his men and also recovered an automatic pump action, 4 live cartridges , police operational belt, police vest with crested logo and some bags of Indian hemp.
“It beats one imagination and equally disgusting that the so called agent of the state government could be found with his gang smoking Indian hemp in the early hours of the day while other Imolites were busy communing with their God”, Elvis said.
He also clarified that the state Commissioner of Police is not a politician to delve into matters relating to politics as he claimed the OCDA boss has been proclaiming in some of his sponsored publications in the media.
When the Public Relation Officer to OCDA , Mrs Adaugo Opara was contacted by LEADERSHIP , she described the allegations as false , maintaining that her boss is not a criminal.
“All what they are saying about my boss are not true , he is not a criminal and does not run a terror gang as they are claiming” Opara said.
