LAFIA- Ahead of the March 18 elections, a group, under the aegis of Nasarawa Good Governance Group (NGGG), has endorsed the re-election bid of Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the group took the decision at a meeting on Thursday in Lafia.
Speaking at the meeting, Leader of NGGG, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said that the group was a coalition of various youth groups whose main aim was to promote good governance in the state.
He said that the group decided to come together to chart a new course for the second term bid of the governor because of the good work he had been doing in the last three years.
Abdullahi stated that the group drew its membership from all the 13 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.
The NGGG leader listed some of the groups that came together to include: National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), among others.
He described Sule as a youth-friendly governor, stressing that his group had promised to mobilise the people of the state to ensure his victory in the forthcoming election.
Also speaking, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Youth Affairs, Shuaibu Sani, urged the youth to educate the voters on the importance of re-electing the governor to sustain his achievements.
According to Sani, Sule remains the only governor since the creation of the state that has prioritised the needs of the youth by appointing them into key positions.
In his own remarks, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Sports Development, Hamza Moyi, said that the state would witness a sustainable transformation, especially with the level of commitment exhibited by the government.
Earlier, NYCN Chairman in the state, Ja’afar Loko, tasked the participants on being responsible for the task of providing framework for the governor’s landside victory at the polls.
Loko noted that Sule had promised to sustain his laudable political and social antecedents, both of which had added value to the lives of the young people in the state. (NAN)
