Lagos,- Bola Olajide, 39, on Wednesday in Lagos pleaded with an Ojo Customary Court to dissolve her 15-year-old marriage to her husband, Marcus, over desertion and share for them, the custody of their six children.
Bola told the court that her husband, who she has four children for, was always hostile to their children adding that Marcus did not carry out his fatherly responsibilities.
“My children cannot stay in the same room whenever my husband comes around, they run away from the house, and if I try to speak, he beats and sends me out.
“My husband, who doubles as a driver and a rewire, only gives me N100 feeding allowance weekly, and I cannot challenge him, I hawk pure water to train my six children.
“He is too lazy, whenever he gets a job, he prefers to sleep instead of taking the offer, and he has deserted his matrimonial responsibilities.
“I cannot carry it alone, we should share the kids,’’ she told the court.
Bola added that she paid the rent of the apartment where she and Marcus lived, adding that whenever she tried to protest, Marcus would drive her out of the house.
She said that though she reported the case to her parents and those of her husband, Marcus had refused to change.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
Bola, therefore, pleaded with the court to dissolve her marriage and share custody of the children, saying that her husband had refused to appear in the court for any reason.
The President of the court, Chief Joseph Ogunmola, however, advised the wife to give the court time to re-invite the husband.
He stressed that in the event of Marcus’ failure to honour the invitation, the court would have no option than to deliver its judgment.
Ogunmola adjourned the case to Aug. 4, for judgment. (NAN
