PORT HARCOURT (SundiataPost) Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant, Nyesom Wike has stated he has never been associated with cultism and will never be associated with the occult world, contrary to the false propaganda being circulated by the opposition in the state.
He spoke in Port Harcourt on Sunday where he worshipped at the
Royal House of Grace presided over by leading evangelist, Apostle David Zilly Aggrey.
He said: “When they attempted to kill me on December 3, 2007 and I escaped, they started to peddle rumours that I belong somewhere. God saved me and I belong to God. I have always been for the Lord.
“I was a student here in UniPort and Rivers State University of Science and Technology and I never belonged to a cult. Any fellow student during my days in school who was a cult member should come forward to prove otherwise. I have never belonged to a cult and I will never belong to a cult. I come from a religious family and I am a firm believer in God.
“I am not bothered by such falsehood and I urge you not to be bothered. For us we are working hard to build Rivers State.”
He stated that all the falsehood would not stop him and his team from emerging victorious.
“I know that there will be obstacles on the way to getting our expectation and realising our goal to lead”, he said.
Wike urged the Rivers people to vote President Jonathan and PDP, saying that anyone campaigning for vice presidential slot does not mean well for the Rivers people and the South South region.
Earlier, Apostle David Zilly Aggrey, General Overseer of Royal House of Grace, commended Wike for always being a man of peace and working in the interest of the peace.
He urged the governorship aspirant to always promote whole scale development in the state when he eventually wins the governorship of the state.
He also advised Wike to continue to accord respect to constituted authorities, traditional rulers, elders and the church.
High point of the church service was the reconciliation between Wike and Alabo Graham Douglas, a respected elder statesman.
Also on Sunday, Wike visited Etche LGA where he appealed to the party delegates to elect him as the PDP governorship candidate on December 8.
He said though there is an aspirant from Etche, the delegates should support him because he is the only candidate that will lead the PDP to the Rivers State Government House.
Mr Chimezie Nwankwo, Etche LGA PDP chairman announced that the PDP delegates in the area have endorsed Wike ahead of the governorship primary. His position was corroborated by former Etche LGA, Mr Ephraim Nwuzie.
In his address, Mr Kelechi Nwogu, member Rivers State House of Assembly assured Barrister Wike that all leaders of Etche have resolved to vote him (Wike) during the governorship primary.
Also speaking, PDP Etche elder statesman, Mr Emma Anyanwu commended Wike for investing in the growth of PDP in Rivers State, pointing out that thus is the time when the Rivers people will reward him for his steadfastness.
Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Chibudom Nwuche, members of the House of Representatives, Hon. Betty Apiafi and Hon. Ken Chikere, members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, serving Federal Commissioners, former state commissioners and local council chairmen accompanied Barrister Wike to Etche LGA.
