Wikki Tourists captain and right back, Mustapha Ibrahim has said his side will pose a hard nut to crack by the nation’s Under-23 Olympic team.
The promoted side are scheduled to engage the Dream Team V1 in a build-up match on Saturday in Bauchi.
Ibrahim said his side discontinued with their off season break to prepare adequately for the expected tough match against the coach Samson Siasia led Olympic team.
“We started our preparations quite early aimed at giving a good fight when both sides square up on Saturday for the friendly match in Bauchi.
“We quite understand it won’t be an easy challenge given the quality of opposition but we’ve resolved to win at least to prove to doubters that our promotion to the Nigerian top flight wasn’t a fluke but well deserved.
“We’re excited with the proposed test match and anxiously waiting for match day to unleash our full weight on the Dream Team V1,” said Ibrahim to supersport.com.
The encounter is part of preparatory matches lined up for the Nigerian side for the daunting qualifying series ahead of them.
Ibrahim however stated pointedly that his side will not add to the number in the Nigerian top flight in the upcoming 2014/15 season.
Ibrahim said his side will certainly challenge for the title as they are already looking forward to winning their first match of the season.
“Wikki Tourists understand quite well what it takes to be in the top flight and now we’re back to the familiar terrain I can assure you that we won’t add to the number but compete favourably as well as challenge for the title.
“We’re already thinking of the first match of the season as victory in the encounter will go a long way to put us in good stand to fight strongly in subsequent matches.
“I’m certain we won’t disappoint our supporters whenever hostilities start in the elite league,” said Ibrahim.
The Bauchi-based side picked one of the promotion slots in the Nigeria National League (NNL) Division A in the out gone 2013/14 league season.  (supersport.com)
