LAGOS (Sundiata Post) – controversial Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has sparked reactions by claiming he received a divine message instructing him to guide people back to their traditional roots.

According to Edochie, God called on him to lead Africans toward embracing their cultural heritage, emphasising that these traditions are divinely approved and offer a path to salvation.

Proud of his traditionalist identity, the actor criticised the lingering influence of Western culture on Africans, suggesting it has caused many to feel ashamed of their own roots.

He reiterated his commitment to his Igbo heritage, declaring he would never be ashamed of his traditional beliefs and practices.

Edochie stated, “God gave me a clear and direct message. Lead my people back to their traditional ways. For their ways are approved by me the Lord God Almighty. Their lies, their salvation.”

He added, “Oyibo people really messed us up. They succeeded in making Africans feel inferior to them. Now many Africans are ashamed of identifying with their traditional ways and culture, because of what people will say.”

“TUFIAKWA! I Chief Yul Edochie, Isi Mmili Ji Ofor 1 of Igbo Land will never be inferior to any human being. Neither will I ever be ashamed of my roots. NEVER. I’m a proud, hardcore Traditionalist.”

Edochie expressed his determination to advocate for and preserve African customs, encouraging others to embrace their cultural legacy without apology.
