Enugu – Plans are on top gear to launch my pet project which focuses on health and the wellbeing of women and the girl child, Mrs Monica Ugwuanyi, wife of Enugu state governor, has said.
Ugwuanyi made the announcement in Enugu on Wednesday when members of the Adolescent Breast and Pelvic Cancer Awareness Initiative paid her a courtesy call.
She said that the project was borne out of the experience she garnered during the recent visit of the wife of the president, Mrs Aisha Buhari to the state.
She added that during the visit, several women were diagnosed with life threatening and preventive ailments.
Ugwuanyi said that the state government would partner with any organisation which programmes would positively impact on women and the girl-child.
She advised women to avail themselves of routine check-ups to prevent some communicable and non communicable diseases.

The governor’s wife thanked the group for the visit and pledged to partner with it in her activities.
Earlier, the leader of the group, Dr Okey Ani, said that the members would collaborate with interested parties to sensitise women on health matters.
He said that some life threatening diseases which afflict women such as breast and pelvic cancer were preventable if the rules were strictly adhered to. (NAN)
