Lagos – The Federal High Court on Wednesday granted N12 million bail to a 34-year-old woman, Juliet Chidinma, for alleged drug trafficking.
The judge, Justice Saliu Saidu, also ordered the accused to produce two sureties in like sum.
Saidu said that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the accused, while the other must be a federal civil servant from grade level 15 and above.
He also ordered that the sureties must deposit their international passport with the court’s registry and adjourned the case till March 7, for trial.
Chidinma was arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on a one-count charge of durg trafficking.
Prosecutor Ichakpa Oigoga told the court that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 15, at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport.

Oigoga said that the accused was arrested at the arrival hall of the airport during the inward clearance of an Emirate Airline flight from Dubai.
He said that the accused imported 2.9 kilogramme of cocaine into Nigeria.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 11 (a) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30 Laws of the Federation 2004, which attracts life imprisonment on conviction.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty. (NAN)
