Woman in court for allegedly stabbing neighbour

Lagos – A 30-year-old woman, Folorunsho Ajimo, on Thursday appeared in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stabbing a neighbour with a knife.

Ajimo, a resident of No. 14, Fabo Street, Agege, Lagos, had accused her neighbour of beating her son and in retaliation stabbed the complainant.

The accused is facing a charge of assault.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Uche Simon, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Dec.11, at her resident.

He said that the accused unlawfully assaulted her neigbour, Mrs Blessing Richard, by stabbing her with a knife.

“The accused stabbed the complainant with a knife on her hand because she beat her son,’’ Simon said.

He explained that the son of the accused had allegedly poured sand in the water which the complainant would take her bath.

“The complainant beat the boy, who then cried to his mother and reported that he was beaten by Richards.

“The mother rushed out to fight and in the process stabbed the complainant,’’ the prosecutor said.

Simon said that investigation revealed that the complainant and the accused, who were neighbours, appeared to have had a festering misunderstanding that led to the incident.

The offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, which attracts two years imprisonment on conviction.

The accused pleaded innocence of the offence and was granted bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.

The Magistrate, Mrs Y.R. Phinero, adjourned the case till Jan. 26, for mention. (NAN)
