Lago- A businesswoman, Yemisi Ilori, 49, was on Thursday arraigned in Lagos, for allegedly obtaining N1.7 million by false pretence from a Pastor.
Ilori, who resides at No 27, Ifedayo street Agbado, Lagos is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp.Victor Eruada, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Aug. 25, at Agbado, Lagos.
He alleged that the accused and two others, now at large, conspired and obtained the said amount falsely from one Pastor Olabisi Lawal of No13, Arowolo street, Awori bus stop, Abule Egba, Lagos.
Eruada said that the accused lied to the complainant that they would buy rice, salt, vegetable oil, palm oil and tomato paste, all in bulk and supply to him.
He told the court that the accused lied to Lawal that she already had the items in stock to supply to him but converted the money to her personal use.
The prosecutor said the offences committed contravened sections 409, 312 and 285 of the criminal law of Lagos 2011.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty of the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs M.O Tanimola, granted the accused N500, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case to Jan. 19, 2015 for further hearing (NAN)
