LAGOS – A cross section of women in Lagos on Friday charged the Super Falcons to leave up to expectations at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
The World Cup is to kick-off from June 6 to July 5.
The President of National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ifeyinwa Omowole, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) expressed optimism that the team would perform credibly.
“They have always delivered we believe in them and I know they will deliver, they have conquered Africa, we need them to take over the world too.
“They have always performed more than their male counterparts, so we strongly believe in them, and we trust that they will justify the confidence reposed in them.
“ I believe they have trained well for this tournament, so I believe that they will move beyond the group stage,’’ Omowole said.
Debola Soyingbe, a civil servant, said that the team should remain focused and play according to instructions.
“So far they have been impressive, and with support from fans cheering them on, I believe that they will deliver by the grace of God.

“It’s not going to be easy but we believe in them, they should play according to their coach’s instruction and remain focused,’’ Soyingbe said.
Kemisola Ibitoye, a fashion designer, said she was optimistic that the African Champions would cause an upset in their group.
“They have been performing well, especially in their friendly matches, so I’m very confident that the team will be a tough nut to crack,’’ Ibitoye said.
Super Falcons will be making their seventh appearance at the World Cup since its inception in 1991 in China; the team’s best result was in Germany 2013 when they finished top 8.
The team have won the Africa Women’s Championship 11 times.
The Falcons will play in Group D alongside USA, Australia and Sweden. (NAN)
