inventors.
The Chairperson of the association, Mrs Gladys Nwosah,
told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja that the competition would provide a [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
platform for young inventors to exhibit their technological fabrications for the attention of industries.
“Following the success of the FCT Science Princess Pageant, we are challenged to go further by encouraging people to bring their fabrications.
“Students doing projects in the secondary and tertiary institutions will be invited to exhibit their [pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
inventions.
The fabrications would be rated and awarded prizes accordingly,’’ she said.
She said that the Federal Institute for Industrial Research (FIIRO), Oshodi, Lagos, and the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NATOP) would help to link the winning innovators with interested manufacturers.
“These agencies encourage people to bring forward their innovations to show them how to market their patents and get them to the industries.
“We are working with FIIRO and NOTAP which transcribe and test research prototypes.
“They sell them to people who are interested in buying the patent or the idea,’’ Nwosah told NAN.
She appealed to the Federal Government to provide adequate funding for industrial research institutions to enable them to effectively promote technological fabrications by young people.
“All the agencies of government that are charged with technology acquisition should be funded to increase their capacities to promote indigenous innovations,’’ Nwosah said.(NAN)
