Akure – Football enthusiasts on Thursday hailed the qualification of the Sunshine Queens FC of Akure to the semi-finals stage of the 2015 Women FA Cup.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a goal in each half from Yetunde Aluko and Shola Oyewusi gave the team the semi-final ticket.
The match was played against FC Robo of Lagos at the Oleh Township Stadium, Delta State.
Adetayo Ojo, a banker, told NAN in Akure that Coach Kayode Olujohungbe’s led team deserved the qualification having worked hard for it.
“I want to say that it was a good thing the girls qualified again for the competition; this shows their consistency in the competition.

“It also shows the commitment and vision of the state government through ODSFA for football development. I want to commend the team spirit and determination for success’’ Ojo said.
Moses Fadoju, the Chairman, Ondo East Football Council praised the team for the qualification.
“It is a sweet qualification, given the fact that the team remains one of the strongest teams to win the FA Cup title, I wish them all the best in the competition,’’ he said.
Fadoju, however, urged Olujohungbe to urgently prepare the squad for semi-finals, saying, the teams in the stage were no pushovers.
Dayo Johnson, a former treasurer, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Ondo State Chapter, also commended the team’s gallantry in qualifying at the expense of the Lagos-based team.
Johnson advised both ODSFA and the coaching crew not to relent but to adequately prepare the team for the task ahead. (NAN)
