KADUNA – Hundreds of women in Kaduna State on Tuesday prayed for peaceful conduct of the February general elections and good governance in Nigeria.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
The women, under the aegis of Women Interfaith Council (WIC), said they embarked on the prayers for God to guide the nation and enable voters choose credible leaders for the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that various Muslim and Christian groups participated in the prayers.
The General Coordinator of the group, Mrs Comfort Fearon, said the solidarity prayer for Nigeria was aimed at tackling the various challenges facing the country.
She said the forum was aimed at providing a platform for faith groups to dialogue, identify and address issues that could lead to conflict in the country.
Wife of the state governor, Hajia Fatima Yero who was represented by Hajiya Hauwa Hussaini prayed for peace before, during and after the elections.
She urged the people of the state, irrespective of their religious, ethnic and political differences to live in peace and promote issues that would move the state forward.
Rev. Felicia Michael prayed God to give Nigeria transparent leadership that would be committed to the aspirations of the common man.
“We have prayed in the spirit of togetherness; we are all children of Kaduna state and stand together as women of faith, Muslims and Christians,” she said.
She also urged Nigerians to unite against the evil tearing the country apart.
Hajia Amina Kazaure, the coordinator of the Muslim wing of the group, prayed for peace and for the victims of violence in Nigeria. (NAN)
