World Bank: FIFA Fan Fest attendance reaches 1.3m mark

ABUJA – A record-breaking 430,000 fans descended the FIFA Fan Fest venues all 12 Host Cities across Brazil Tuesday at the 2014 World Cup, a report said Wednesday.

The report by the FIFA Media Office, said the figure took the attendance so far at the World Cup finals to 1.3 million after the first round of group games.

The first round of the competition’s first round or group stage were concluded on Tuesday.

With settings such as the Copacabana Beach Rio de Janeiro, Farol de Barra Salvador and Iracema Beach Fortaleza, the FIFA Fan Fests have been very useful.

They are proving to be the second best place in town for fans without tickets to the .

Live cultural performances, music shows top Brazilian artists and activities provided by FIFA’s Commercial Affiliates are helping out.

They have been helping to ensure that the FIFA Fan Fest experience is a true extravaganza.

“The FIFA Fan Fest has been a huge success so far,” said FIFA’s Marketing Thierry Weil.

“It’s a truly special experience to see fans all over the world joining together to celebrate world ’s most exciting event.

“We will like to thank the Host Cities and the FIFA Fan Fest Sponsors for their huge contribution to the Brazilian population and international visitors.

“This has resulted in the provision of fantastic locations where fans can celebrate together at an event which has established itself as an integral part of the FIFA World Cup,’’ Weil said.(NAN)
