Abuja (Sundiata Post) – An entrepreneur cum philanthropist has joined millions around the world to celebrate children on their special day, extending heartfelt wishes and congratulating them in commemoration of the World Children Day anniversary.

Children’s Day celebration was initiated by UNICEF and adopted by the United Nations on November 20, 1959 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, our correspondent reports.

It is marked in Nigeria on May 27 annually, dedicated to celebrating children and for adults to remember their childhood experiences.

The entrepreneur, Opia Izah Rupert, known for his dedication to humanitarian causes and child welfare, emphasized the significance of providing a supportive and safe environment for every child to thrive.

In his goodwill message to children in Jos, the Plateau State Capital, he said: “The event, marked with joy and festivities, highlighted the importance of nurturing and protecting the younger generation.

“Children are the bedrock of our future. It is our duty to ensure they receive the best care, education, and opportunities to reach their full potential.”

Rupert also called for increased support for initiatives aimed at improving children’s welfare in the world.

He highlighted the need for collaborative efforts between government, non-governmental organizations, and the community to create a conducive environment for children’s growth and development.

While praising the efforts of teachers, parents, and caregivers who play a crucial role in shaping the lives of young ones, he added, “Let us all work together to build a brighter future for our children. By investing in their education and well-being, we are investing in the future of the world at large”.

Rupert gushes on his Children and lovely wife, saying the protection and blessings of God will continue to rest on them.

“Happy Children’s Day”, he said.
