Former Nigerian international, Julius Aghahowa has counselled the Nigerian team at the ongoing 20th FIFA World Cup not to underrate any of their group opponents as teams that made it to the finals in Brazil deserve their respective places in the cmpetition.
The Edo State-born player, who had played top-flight football in Tunisia, Ukraine, England and Turkey told P.M.NEWS Sports at the opening of Intercontinental Hotel’s Ariya BBQ Terrace, on Victoria Island, Lagos for football lovers to watch matches of the World Cup last night that any team that made it to the World Cup finals are good, adding that the Super Eagles should not look down on Iran and Bosnia as teams that they can easily overrun to the second round of the World Cup.
“I think our Eagles should know that they should not underrate any team in their group because teams in the finals are champions from their respective continents,” said Aghahowa who described the Intercontinental Hotel’s Ariya BBQ Terrace as an experience which football fans will enjoy watching live matches of the World Cup.
The former Police Machines and Bendel Insurance star said having selected his best players for the World Cup and training for the championship with some friendly matches, Coach Stephen Keshi should not focus on the strategies that will win matches for Nigeria in the World Cup, adding: “all eyes now on the team to deliver for the country. Players had been selected and what will count for them now is how prepared they are for the World Cup. I could only wish the Eagles well in their campaign.” (PM News)
