Kaduna – Soccer fans in Kaduna have expressed optimism that the Super Eagles would perform creditably at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The fans told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that they were optimistic the Super Eagles would have a better outing in the
Abdulsalam Ahmed-jere the Kaduna State Football Association (FA) Secretary, said that not minding their performance in their pre-tournament friendly games, they were expecting a good appearance from them.
“With their performances so far in the friendly matches before the Coupe de Mundial, I am very sure they will put up a good fight at the tournament and give us a good result.
A Sports Correspondent, Abdullazeez Ahmed, said he was optimistic that the Super Eagles would give the president a democracy gift.
“In football you don’t underrate players. So far, our boys are doing well and this may work in our favour.
“We have got a global acceptance and if they can build on it, it will help us,’’ he said.
He added that the Eagles would put in their best and have a good outing because they knew the expectations of Nigerians and they had all it takes to go into the finals.
“Just like Mikel said, they don’t have financial issues, so they have all the best and my expectation from them is to get to the final even if we don’t lift up the trophy,’’ he said.
Vincent Akinbami said that based on the friendly matches played, if the players could be used properly, he sees them going as far as the semi-finals in the tournament.
Umar Usman said he was hopeful they would reach the semi-finals because most of their appearances during such championships the Eagles stopped at group stage or round of 16.
“We are hopeful they will reach the semi-finals because I can see them improving on their performance and that will bring good name to the country.’’
Michael Smith another fan said his optimism stemmed from the confidence the Eagles showed during their friendly matches.
“I have the confidence that the Eagles will do well in the tournament not minding their performance in friendly matches, they have confidence in them.
