LAGOS – Michael Oladeinde, the Technical Director, Nigeria Wushu/Kung-Fu Federation (NWKF) on Monday decried the lack of response from its proposed sponsors, ahead of its National Open Championships.
The championships are scheduled for July.
Oladeinde told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, that the championships were aimed at creating more awareness for the sport, ahead of the All Africa Games (AAG).
He said that the body had to make extra effort to approach individuals, corporate bodies and Non-Governmental organisations for support, without relying on the National Sports Commission (NSC).
“We are really having challenges in the feedbacks from persons and bodies approached for help concerning the national championships, as they are yet to respond to our proposals.
“This championships are very important because we intend to use it to specifically bring to the knowledge of our sport authorities the importance our participation at the AAG.
“The sport has been officially accepted to feature in this year’s Games, and we believe that such will help to enlighten the organisers to include wushu as a scoring sport.
The Director assured that efforts would be intensified by the body to ensure that the championships hold between July and August, stressing that the AAG was close.
