ABuJA – Zeb Ejiro, Producer of the film, “Yellow Cassava’’, which premiered at Abuja International Film Festival on Wednesday said the film was used to promote agriculture and health in Africa.
Ejiro, an Africa Movie Academy Award winner, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview on Thursday in Abuja that he was optimistic about the positive impact and success of the movie.
“There is no doubt these movie will go a long way in addressing the scarce nutritional information we have in this part of the world.
“It will also help in educating the Nigerian population that is largely cassava consuming,’’ Ejiro said.
Another film producer, Fidelis Duker, described the film’s depiction of agriculture and health as intriguing.

Obi Osotule, the producer of “Sakani’’, the Hausa translated version of “Yellow Cassava” told NAN that there was need for an understanding of the movie at the grassroots level.
Osotule explained that Yellow Cassava was a reflection of dual function of agriculture and health.
“A research and experiment was carried out on a seed of white cassava by injecting into it vitamin A nutrients which eventually appeared yellow.
“Vitamin A is a vital nutrient that human beings need and that was why the massage was passed in a film,’’ Osotule said.
‘Yellow Cassava’, which premiered at Silverbird Cinema, tells the story of a new cassava crop that was brought into a local community to educate them on the huge nutritional benefits of the staple crop.
The movie also shed more light on the nutritional value of other cassava species apart from the white cassava. (NAN)
