LOKOJA- Gov. Usman Ododo of Kogi on Monday unveiled the Youth Digital Database to store the various skills and talents of youths in the state.

The governor, who inaugurated the database at the celebration of the 2024 International Youth Day at the Government House in Lokoja, described the initiative as “apt and timely”.

Ododo, who was represented by his deputy, Joel Oyibo, expressed his belief in the ability of the youths to assist in the transformation drive of the state.

According to him, this administration is ready to empower the youths with the right tools and opportunities to showcase their talents and skills.

“Our youths should also take advantage of the youth digital database to let the government discover them for proper application of their God-given talents.

“Also, the database will enhance the youths’ skills toward the growth and development of the state,” he said.

Earlier, Mr Monday Anyebe, the Kogi Commissioner for Youth and Sports, said that “the innovative initiative of his ministry was a testament to their dedication to leveraging digital tools for sustainable development”.

Anyebe explained that the youth database was designed to be a comprehensive platform that would  document the skills, talents, and aspirations of young people.

According to him, the database will also connect the youths with opportunities for growth and development.

“This platform will serve as a bridge between our youths and various stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector partners, and international organisations.

“It will facilitate access to resources, training and mentorship, thereby enabling our young people to take full advantage of the digital economy.

“As we celebrate this International Youth Day, I urge all the youth of Kogi to take ownership of their digital futures.

“Use your digital skills to drive positive change, contribute to sustainable development, and build a brighter future for yourselves and the generations to come,” he said. (NAN)
