Ilorin – The Federal Road Safety Corps on Tuesday said no fewer than 1000 officials, 20 operational vehicles and three ambulances had been deployed for the Yuletide in Kwara.
The Sector Commander, Mr Jonathan Owoade, told newsmen in Ilorin that adequate arrangements had been made for safety on the roads.
Owoade said that the command was prepared and ready to ensure a hitch free mishap on the roads in the state during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The sector commander said areas with high traffic would be manned adequately in collaboration with other sister security agencies.
“There would also be a 24-hour rescue team on standby in case of any road traffic crash, the public can reach the FRSC on toll free Emergency No. 122.
“The command restates its commitment to be up and doing in discharging her functions throughout the celebration.
“We also promise to work assiduously in ensuring safety of lives and property on the highways,” Owoade said.
He, however, enjoined all road users and the general public to be safety conscious, vigilant, lane discipline and shun excessive speeding.
He also advised against drunk driving as well as use of substandard and expired tyres to avoid accidents.
