Tsafe (Zamfara) – Malam Ballama Bello, Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Zamfara, has solicited for the support of stakeholders for the corps’ Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (SAED).
Ballama, who made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Tsafe, said the NYSC-SAED programmes in the state needed support to achieve its objectives.
He said that corps members during their one year mandatory national service were to be trained on various entrepreneurship skills aimed at reducing unemployment.
“In spite of the importance of this programme to the nation’s economy, we are not getting the required support from stakeholders in the state to run the programmes effectively.
“Only the state government has so far been supporting the NYSC programmes.
“It recently donated a new state secretariat complex and connected our permanent orientation camp in Tsafe with the national grid.
“It gives us moral and social support when ever needed,’’ he said.
“We are appealing to the state government to also come to our aid in improving the activities of the programmes,’’ Ballama said.
He solicited for support for the upgrading of facilities in the NYSC permanent orientation camp.
The coordinator expressed appreciation to the government, traditional and religious leaders as well as security agencies operating in the state for their support. (NAN)
