Birnin Kebbi – The Zuru Emirate Council have commended the Kebbi State Government for the construction of Zuru township roads and rehabilitation of Maga-Riba and Wasagu-Buena roads.
Traditional rulers in the emirate led by the Chief of Wasagu Chiefdom, Alhaji Mukhtar Muhammad, made the commendation when they paid a courtesy visit to Kebbi Deputy Governor, Alhaji Sama’ila Yombe, in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
“We are here to express our utmost gratitude and to commend the government for executing the township roads in our emirate.
“We also thank you for supporting farmers to cultivate Soya Beans; such intervention should also be given to groundnut and guinea corn farmers,” Muhammad said.
The deputy governor reassured them the government’s commitment in protecting the lives and properties of people throughout the state.
Yombe recalled that as at the time they assumed office, security threats such as cattle rustling, kidnapping and armed robbery were at their peak.
“Such threats had crippled commercial activities in the emirate. We stood up in order to arrest the situation,” he said.
He reassured that: “We shall not rest until crime is brought to zero point, and today we have begun to witness that.”
He commended Gov. Atiku Bagudu for his concern on the matter right from the onset and by making huge sum of resources available to tackle the menace in the area.
