LAGOS – Two apprentices, Chidi Obaji, 25, and Samuel Ogonna, 21, were on Wednesday arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on a two-count charge of conspiracy and alleged stealing of their employer’s N810,000.
Obaji and Ogonna, both residents of Jakande Housing Estate, Lekki, Lagos, however, denied the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Nwankpuma told the court that the accused persons committed the offences between June and Sept. 10 at Ikate Waterside, Lekki, Lagos.[eap_ad_2]
He said the accused stole N810,000 belonging to one Mr Joseph Onuchukwu, their employer.
Nwankpuma said that the complainant employed the accused as apprentices to oversee sales at his foodstuff shop.
The offences, the prosecutor said, contravened Sections 285 (7) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 (NAN)
Section 285 (7) prescribes seven years imprisonment for any clerk or servant convicted of stealing from their employer.
The magistrate, Mrs C.J Momodu, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 each with one surety each in like sum and adjourned the case to Oct. 6 for mention. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
