Sango-Ota (Ogun) – The Police in Ogun on TuesdayPolice in Ogun before an Ota Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a Bajaj motorcycle valued at N180,000.
The accused, Wahab Mustapha, 22, and Abideen Sakaniyau, 30, of know fixed addresses, are standing trial on a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Rosemary Brown, told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 30 at about 5 p.m. at No.2b, Sannu Fadeyi St., Ishaka in Ota.
Brown said that the accused conspired among themselves to steal the motorcycle belonging to Mr Afolabi Azeez.
She said that the accused were caught in the process of committing the crime by the people and were handed over to the police.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
Brown said that the offences contravened sections 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Vol. 1 of the Revised Laws of Ogun state, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Miss Temitope Adebutu, granted bail to each of the accused in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
Adebutu said that one of the sureties should own a landed property within the magisterial district.
She also ordered that the sureties must provide evidence of payment of tax clearance in the last one year and submit photocopy of the tax clearance payment to the court.
The case was adjourned to May 19 for hearing. (NAN)
