ABEOKUTA – An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court sitting at Isabo on Friday sentenced two men, Emmanuel Moses, 21, and Lekan Olabode, 24, to one year imprisonment each, for burglary and receipt of stolen goods.

Moses and Olabode, who live at 3, Ode St., Obada, had pleaded guilty to the charges against them.
The magistrate, Mr Emmanuel Adekunle sentenced each of them to one year imprisonment without an option of fine.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Augustine Ozimini, said that the accused persons committed the offences on Jan. 4, at about 4:30a.m., at Obada Village via Imala in Abeokuta.
Ozimini said that the Moses unlawfully burgled a shop belonging to one Victoria Shigbeku at Obada Market and stole groceries valued at N150,000 and N50,000 cash.
He said that the second accused received the groceries knowing that they were stolen goods.
According to the prosecutor, the Investigating Police Officer found empty cartons of Indomie in front of the house of the accused.
The prosecutor told the court that the officer eventually found the remaining stolen items inside Olabode’s room.
Ozimini said that the offences contravened Sections 410, 411 and 427 of the Criminal Laws of Ogun, 2006. (NAN)
