SOKOTO – The 2015 Elections Petitions Tribunal in Sokoto state said it had received five petitions from candidates who contested in the Governorship and National Assembly elections in the state.
Secretary to the tribunal, Mrs Uju Mesiobi-Emeto, made this known while interacting with newsmen in Sokoto on Monday.
Mesiobi-Emeto said that the petitions comprised one on the gubernatorial poll, one for senatorial election and three on House of Representatives poll.
She said that the petition on the governorship poll was filed by the Mega Progressives Peoples Party (MPPP) against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), All Progressives Congress (APC), the Governor-elect, Aminu Tambuwal and Deputy Governor-elect, Ahmed Aliyu.
She said that the petition on the senatorial exercise was also filed by MPPP against INEC, APC and the Senator-elect for Sokoto Central Senatorial District, Aliyu Wamakko.

The secretary said that PDP candidate in the House of Representative poll in Wurno/Rabah constituency petitioned against the declaration of APC’s Kabir Achida as winner of the contest.
According to her, the second petition in this category was filed by defeated PDP’s candidate for Tambuwal/Kebbe federal constituency, Aminu Abubakar, against the, Abdussamad Dasuki of the APC and the INEC.
She said that the third petition on the House of Representatives election was by Umar Bature, of the PDP, who lost the contest in Sokoto North/Sokoto South constituency.
She said that the three-member tribunal would be inaugurated on Wednesday. (NAN)
