“The AOCOEDIANS are really very happy and excited about the appointment.
“We are particularly excited because someone who knows us and who is one of us has been appointed to manage the affairs of the institution,’’ Akinola said.
According to him, the new provost does not need any special tutorials about the college because she has been on ground and knows its peculiar needs.
Also speaking, Mr Adeyemi Adesanya, the former National President of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COAESU) described Dr Aina as a versatile woman.
He told NAN that she has been serving the AOCOED community very well.
“Thank God the woman is a member of the community who has always monitored events in the community.
“So we do not need to teach her what she already knows before settling down to work,’’ Adesanya said.
Mrs Wunmi Ombugado, the Chairman of the Senior Staff Union of Colleges of Education (SSUCOEN), AOCOED Chapter, described the new provost as a woman of substance, who cannot be manipulated.
She said that people were happy with the appointment because of the provost’s past records.
According to her, being an insider, the provost is experienced to be able to break new grounds, such as working to boost the college’s Internally Generated Revenue.
“Being an insider, she knows the germane areas to be addressed in the college, so there will not be so much need to suggest such areas to her,’’ she added.
NAN reports that the new provost is the first female provost of the institution.
Aged 53, Aina graduated with a first class in Mathematics from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and obtained a Ph.d degree from the Eddy Cowan University, Australia.
She joined the service of the college in July 1990, rose to become a Chief Lecturer in 2003
and has served in various capacities at the institution.
At the time of her appointment, Aina was the Director of Applied Scholastics, a training outfit of AOCOED. (NAN)
